Brooklyn Legal Services Providing Pro Bono Disaster-Related Assistance Video (Nov 2012)
The Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project and Brooklyn Legal Services presented a city-wide training for attorneys and law students interested in providing pro bono disaster-related assistance.
NYLAG Storm Response Pro Bono Training II: Disaster Relief Advocacy and Appeals (11-16-2012)
The second Superstorm Sandy training presented by the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and Pro Bono Net, this webinar is for for pro bono attorneys and others interested in volunteering to provide disaster relief legal services for storm victims through NYLAG's Storm Response Unit. The training also includes important updates to topics discussed in NYLAG's first webinar (see below).

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and Pro Bono Net presented a training for pro bono attorneys and others interested in volunteering to provide disaster relief legal services for storm victims through NYLAG's Storm Response Unit.

Application Assistance for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (8-23-12)
This program featured The Legal Aid Society and its Deferred Action pro bono program. On June 15th the Federal Government announced that it would provide Deferred Action and Employment Authorization (work permit) to qualified young people who were brought to the United States as children and have no lawful status.
Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and Immigration Rememedies for Unaccompanied Minors
This program featured Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and focused on immigration remedies for unaccompanied immigrant children. Attendees learned about KIND's pro bono program and received a general overview of the forms of relief available to unaccompanied minors in removal proceedings.

The City Bar Justice Center and Foreclosure
This program features the Foreclosure Project of the City Bar Justice Center and will focus on their Lawyers Foreclosure Intervention Network (LFIN) . You will learn about the options available to homeowners facing foreclosure and how to get involved with the LFIN Foreclosure Panel and assist New York homeowners in need of help in the midst of the current foreclosure crisis.
MFY Legal Services and Private Placement Adoption
MFY Legal Services is now updating their materials on the Kinship Caregiver Law Project and Private Placement Adoptions in Family Court to provide the most current information.
Online Now: Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project & Article 17A Guardianship Proceedings
This program provides an overview of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project and focuses on their many pro bono opportunities, including the VLP's initiative to assist guardians of mentally retarded and developmentally disabled adults in obtaining legal guardianship. Viewers will learn how to find interesting pro bono projects from the VLP in the areas of Family Law, Consumer Law, Foreclosure Intervention and Elder Law. The VLP's services are available to poor and low income residents of Brooklyn, especially those who have particular difficulty in accessing the legal system, including victims of domestic violence, the elderly and the disabled.
The video also contains a substantive training on Article 17A guardianship proceedings for adults who are mentally retarded and/or developmentally disabled.

This program provides an overview of the many pro bono programs offered by New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and also provides an introduction to Matrimonial & Family Law matters, including a discussion about recent no-fault divorce legislation that was signed into law in July 2010.
Viewers will learn how to find pro bono matters of interest and how to support their pro bono work through online resources including training videos and other introductory materials, as well as model pleadings and other sample documents on probono.net/ny.
