Mineola, Long Island, NY – Russell C. Burcheri of Garden City certainly has demonstrated his commitment to Nassau County residents by volunteering consistently every month for the nationally-recognized Nassau County Bar Association Mortgage Foreclosure Project. For the past two years, Burcheri has provided one-on-one legal consultations for homeowners concerned about or facing foreclosure issues at NCBA’s free clinics. He also volunteers as an "Attorney of the Day" to represent homeowners and/or provide information and assistance at court-mandated foreclosure settlement conferences in Supreme Court. For his extraordinary effort and commitment, NCBA President Marian C. Rice has named him Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for November 2012.

Burcheri has been involved in pro bono activities in some capacity throughout his entire career since earning his law degree from Cornell Law School. In District Court, he has been a small claims arbitrator and a landlord-tenant mediator.  He serves as an arbitrator with the Nassau Administrative Judge’s Attorney-Client Fee Dispute Resolution Program, and participates in NCBA’s annual Pro Bono Fairs. For more than twenty years he has been running his own law firm based in Uniondale, concentrating primarily in corporate, transactional, real estate, and commercial matters.

When he is not wearing his attorney hat, he is actively involved in his community as a long-time member of the County Seat Kiwanis Club, having served as President twice, a member of the Board of Directors, and as chair of numerous fundraising activities over the last 25 years.  Currently, he is the Lieutenant Governor-Elect of the Long Island North Division of Kiwanis.

Burcheri is married to Rosemary, who works with the Center for Student Involvement at Adelphi University, and they have two children Christopher, a junior at the University of Pennsylvania, and Lauren, a senior at the Garden City High School.  In his parent capacity, for ten years he volunteered as Little League, Junior League, and Softball League Manager with the Garden City Athletic Association and he just recently completed a four year stint as head of the “parent roadies” – more affectionately known as Parent Pit Crew of the Garden City High School Marching Band.
