The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center is Hiring

The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center is currently hiring for the following three positions:

  • Eviction Defense Practice Attorney. This person will serve as an “Attorney of the Day” in the Landlord Tenant Branch and provide legal representation to qualifying, low-income tenants.  The attorney will engage in same-day representation for tenants the attorney meets for the first time at a vital point in their eviction suit and provide extended representation in appropriate matters. Eligible candidates must be D.C.-barred and have housing law or significant litigation experience.
  • Bilingual Intake Coordinator (BIC). The BIC will communicate with prospective clients, provide intake services, and coordinate the legal clinics that provide services to individuals and families.
  • Temporary Staff Attorney. The temporary staff attorney will coordinate and support our Landlord Tenant Resource Center and other clinics and projects that deliver legal services to the low-income community.  The position will last from mid/late June through December 2018, and it is a part-time position not to exceed three days per week.

Individuals interested in either positions must upload a cover letter, resume, and two writing samples here.

This Practice Area is designed to prepare volunteer lawyers for their Projects & Clinics experiences by providing a preview of the training materials and forms. Current volunteers for community legal clinics and related projects that have posted content on the site are eligible to join this Practice Area.

The Projects & Clinics Practice Area also is a valuable resource to practitioners who are on-site providing legal services through one of our programs or clinics.

The Library is divided into a series of "virtual" file cabinets containing much of the material used at the various Projects & Clinics operating throughout the community.

If you are searching for individual volunteer opportunities, please visit the Probono.net/DC Calendar or the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center's website.

If you are a legal services provider and wish to post your organization's material in this Practice Area, please contact Lise Adams at ladams ~ at ~ dcbar.org or (202) 737-4700, ext. 3295.

To join, go to "Join this Area" on the left tool bar and register for your membership. Remember to indicate with which program you volunteer. You should be admitted within 24 hours.
