Through innovative technology solutions and expertise in collaboration, Pro Bono Net transforms the way legal help reaches those in need.

Last year, Pro Bono Net programs helped nearly 8 million people find legal help and information, over half a million individuals complete legal forms for themselves, and more than 100,000 pro bono attorneys and students find opportunities to get involved.

Below are our main Pro Bono Net programs.

Probono.net is a national, online resource for legal aid and pro bono attorneys, law professors and students, and related social services advocates. The site promotes collaboration and makes it easier for pro bono attorneys to get involved, saving them time and connecting them with opportunities, training events, mentors, and searchable libraries of practice resources they won't find anywhere else. The site is organized by topical "practice areas" and geographic regions, built and maintained by public interest legal organizations and law firms throughout the country. 

probono.net boasts a total of 114,000 members. Some of our most popular sites include the NYC Pro Bono Justice Center and the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. In 2016 alone our Pro Bono Directories were used nearly 2 million times to find volunteer opportunities for pro bono attorneys.

LawHelp is an online resource that helps low and moderate-income people find free legal aid programs in their communities, answers to questions about their legal rights, court information, links to social service agencies, and more. This resource was built and is maintained in partnership with hundreds of legal aid, pro bono and court-based programs across the country. LawHelp.org was recognized with the 2007 Webby Award for Best Law site.

An average of 20,000 people a day come to LawHelp.org for legal information, tools, and referrals. In 2016, nearly 8 million people accessed the hundreds of legal rights resources available on LawHelp sites around the country. 

Pro Bono Net leads a national effort to provide online legal document assembly for poverty law and court access to justice programs. LawHelp Interactive allows subject matter experts to create interview templates that can be used to assemble court forms and other legal documents based on a user's input. The system increases opportunities for self-represented litigants to achieve justice on their own and improves efficiency for legal aid, pro bono and courts-based access to justice programs. This project is in collaboration with Ohio State Legal Services Association, with funding by the Legal Services Corporation and the State Justice Institute, and using HotDocs software.

Pro Bono Net received the 2010 InnovAction Award from the College of Law Practice Management in recognition of LawHelp Interactive. The InnovAction Awards recognize outstanding innovation in the delivery of legal services, demonstrating to the legal community what can happen when passionate professionals, with big ideas and strong convictions, resolve to create effective change.

Over half a million forms were generated in 2017, with the most in the areas of Family Law and Housing. 

The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) is a collaborative effort of leading immigrants' rights organizations designed to increase access to justice for low-income immigrants and strengthen the capacity of organizations serving them. IAN promotes more effective and efficient communication, collaboration, and services among immigration advocates and organizations by providing free, easily accessible and comprehensive online resources and tools.

IAN's partners include the ACLU Immigrants' Rights Project, American Bar Association Commission on Immigration, American Immigration Council, American Immigration Lawyers Association, ASISTA, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Immigrant Legal Resource Center, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, National Immigration Law Center, National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild, Pro Bono Net, and the Advocates for Human Rights.

Immigration Advocates Network has more than 7,000 individual members. In 2016, more than 8,000 resources were downloaded by pro bono and civil legal aid attorneys.

CitizenshipWorks provides easy-to-use online tools to help low and moderate-income individuals to answer important questions about their eligibility for naturalization, to better understand the naturalization process, and to prepare for the naturalization tests. The CitizenshipWorks toolkit includes:

1. An interactive online interview to help individuals to understand their eligibility for naturalization;

2. A self-paced interactive tutorial that explains the naturalization process step-by-step;

3. An online tutorial to help applicants prepare for the naturalization tests; and

4. Links to other resources and information about citizenship and naturalization available online.

Since it's launch in early 2016, Citizenshipworks has generated nearly 4,750 completed applications for naturalization, a savings of over $4 million in legal fees alone for low-income immigrants. 

immi™ helps immigrants in the U.S. understand their legal options. Our online screening tool, legal information, and referrals to nonprofit legal services organizations are always free to use. Immi was created by the Immigration Advocates Network and Pro Bono Net, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to increasing access to justice for low-income immigrants.

In only the first six months since it launched in November 2016, the immi platform served 60,000 users, including nearly 30,000 who have used the screening tool, and 6,000 who have discovered potential immigration relief. 

With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Pro Bono Net has developed a customized, hosted web application to increase law firms' pro bono program management capacity. Operating as a secure, seamless extension of a law firm's intranet, the platform will integrate content from the public interest legal community regarding training events, volunteer opportunities and news with powerful reporting, knowledge management and lawyer matching tools that draw on data from the law firm's internal personnel, billing, time keeping and docketing systems.
