The Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD) provides free civil legal services to low-income people with disabilities and to the deaf and hard of hearing in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties.

LCD provides a variety of legal services including assisting victims of domestic violence with getting legal protection from their abusers, representing people with eviction and habitability housing disputes, preparing planning documents, and helping parents and caregivers access healthcare for their children. LCD meets it client base primarily through LCD’s Medical-Legal Partnership Initiative (MLP). Our attorneys are based in seven diverse communities throughout Philadelphia where they work with nurses, doctors, residents, social workers, and health care staff to identify social determinants of health that are legal in nature, such as sub-standard housing, domestic violence and food insecurity, in order to make immediate referrals to the on-site attorney.

LCD also goes into the Philadelphia communities with pro bono volunteers through Community Legal Outreach Clinics (CLOCs). Pro bono volunteers from Philadelphia law firms join LCD for a day long legal clinic in places where LCD’s client base live or receive services. Each CLOC focuses on a legal issue, such as planning documents and credit remediation, and provides attendees with completed documents and legal advice.

LCD operates a telephone intake line and separate landlord tenant intake line to provide additional means to access LCD’s services.
