Bill requiring 50 hours unpaid work from new lawyers vetoed (CA)

"Legislation to require incoming lawyers in California to spend at least 50 hours in unpaid legal service to the poor has been vetoed by Gov. Jerry Brown, who said it would add to the burdens of today’s debt-saddled law school graduates.

Brown also vetoed a bill Monday that was intended to protect the privacy of prospective jurors in criminal cases by prohibiting judges and lawyers from using the jurors’ full names in open court..."
