Free legal aid clinic will offer help to immigrants (MI)

Wednesday, March 09, 2016

"MADISON HEIGHTS — Moving to the U.S. from a distant land can be hard enough, with many immigrants leaving behind their standing and social connections in order to start over. The last thing immigrants need is the overcomplicated legal system working against them.

But soon, those new to the country will be able to receive free legal aid from an immigration expert at the Madison Heights Public Library.

The attorney there can help them naturalize or obtain U.S. citizenship, sponsor their close relatives for an immigrant visa (green card) so they can live and work in the U.S., and change the status of foreign nationals already in the U.S. if they’ve married or been offered a new job that qualifies them for a different immigration status or green card."
