DLA Piper is pleased to announce that its global pro bono affiliate, New Perimeter, assisted Vital Voices Global Partnership in planning and implementing programming on women’s political empowerment at the Vital Voices of Asia Summit. The summit, held September 14-17 in New Delhi, brought together women leaders from across Asia to recognize the critical role that women can and must play in moving the region forward socially, politically and economically. Kristen Abrams and Sara Andrews, program managers for New Perimeter, led the design and implementation of one of the three summit tracks, Women in Political Leadership: Fostering Good Governance & Transparency. “We are proud to have been involved with Vital Voices in this important event to highlight the challenges facing women in Asia and develop strategies to foster equality and success,” said Abrams. “In our international pro bono work, New Perimeter has demonstrated a deep commitment to women’s empowerment and we look forward to continuing to work with Vital Voices to address critical issues facing women worldwide.” New Perimeter’s role in the Vital Voices of Asia Summit included designing the agenda and securing speakers for the political track, as well as providing on-site resources to facilitate the three days of programming in New Delhi. The political track covered such issues as increasing women’s political participation, advancing policies that promote gender equality, promoting good governance and combating corruption. As a leading non-governmental organization that identifies, trains and empowers emerging women leaders around the globe, Vital Voices Global Partnership strives to combat challenges to women's empowerment and provide women with the resources they need to advance their leadership potential and transform their communities and our world.
