HOUSING SITES WE LIKE

There are many good websites out there, and a lot address housing issues. Here are a few of the sites we found most useful, informative, and inspirational.

Housing Partnership Network: An alliance to "develop, manage and finance affordable homes that revitalize communities and provide economic opportunities for lower-income and working families."

National Housing Trust: An organization that "preserves and revitalizes affordable apartments to better the quality of life for the families and elderly who live there."

Smart Growth America: A "coalition of national, state and local organizations working to improve the ways we plan and build the towns, cities and metro areas we call home."

National Fair Housing Alliance: An organization that "works to eliminate housing discrimination and to ensure equal housing opportunity for all people through leadership, education and outreach, membership services, public policy initiatives, advocacy and enforcement."

The Fair Housing National Multimedia Campaign: Seeks to "increase public awareness of the Fair Housing Act and its protections, encourage the reporting of fair housing discrimination to the appropriate agencies, and provide information and resources to help communities and institutions support individuals and families who exercise their fair housing rights."

National Low Income Housing Coalition: An organization "dedicated solely to ending America's affordable housing crisis" by focusing on the lowest income households.

Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST: An "initiative designed to promote compliance with the Fair Housing Act design and construction requirements," which "offers comprehensive and detailed instruction programs, useful online web resources, and a toll-free information line for technical guidance and support."

National Housing Law Project : A "national housing law and advocacy center" whose goal is "to advance housing justice for the poor by increasing and preserving the supply of decent affordable housing, by improving existing housing conditions, including physical conditions and management practices, by expanding and enforcing low-income tenants' and homeowners' rights, and by increasing opportunities for racial and ethnic minorities."
