There are so many good environmental websites out there; here are just a few of our favorites, in alphabetical order.

Alliance for Affordable Energy. Especially poignant now, this nonprofit, public interest, membership organization is dedicated to creating fair, affordable, environmentally responsible, community-based energy policies for Louisiana as well as nationally: http://www.all4energy.org/

Be Safe, coordinated by the Center for Health, Environment and Justice, a national campaign "to build support for the precautionary approach to prevent pollution and environmental destruction before it happens." The "precautionary principle" shifts the questions we ask about environmental hazards from "what level of harm is acceptable?" to "how can we prevent harm?" http://www.besafenet.com/

Center for Policy Analysis on Trade and Health "brings a public health voice to the debate on trade and sustainable development. We conduct research, policy analysis and advocacy in the interest of protecting and improving the health of individuals, communities and populations; expanding access to health-related services; and advancing global economic policies that are democratic, sustainable, and socially just." http://www.cpath.org/index.html

Collaborative on Health and the Environment, a nonprofit, nonpartisan partnership of individuals and groups working together to "advance knowledge and effective action to address growing concerns about the links between human health and environmental factors": http://www.healthandenvironment.org/

Community Environmental Defense Fund provides free and cheap legal services to community-based groups and local governments working to protect the environment and quality of life": http://www.celdf.org/

Climate Crisis Coalition "seeks to broaden the circle of individuals, organizations and constituencies engaged in the global warming issue, to link it with other issues": http://www.climatecrisiscoalition.org/

Earth Justice, founded in 1971 as Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, this nonprofit, public-interest law firm is dedicated to protecting the environment and working for environmental justice: http://www.earthjustice.org

Eco Equity has the motto "equal rights to global common resources" and includes news, recommended reading lists, links and other resources about such issues as oil, climate change, water, and more:  http://www.ecoequity.org/

Greenpeace, “an independent non-profit global campaigning organization that uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems and their causes. The National Religious Partnership for the Environment is a formal alliance of major faith groups and denominations across the spectrum "committed to social justice for all efforts to protect the natural world and human well-being within it." http://www.nrpe.org/

U.S. Climate Action Network (USCAN) “serves as the focal point for global climate change activities in the United States. U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is a portal to hundreds of websites and thousands of documents about energy efficiency and renewable energy. http://www.eere.energy.gov/

U.S Environmental Protection Agency has a comprehensive website and vast resource of valuable information.  http://www.epa.gov/

West Harlem Environmental Action is nonprofit, community-based, environmental justice organization dedicated to building community strength to fight environmental racism and improve environmental health, protection and policy in communities of color: http://www.weact.org/
