AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND AN ALITO SUPREME COURT

Alito could end affirmative action in college admissions.

Recent court cases involving affirmative action admissions to the University of Michigan, Grutter v. Bollinger and Gratz v. Bollinger, were decided 5-4 in favor of allowing consideration of race in college admissions.

Judges Scalia and Thomas voted against affirmative action; it could be expected that Alito would vote with them on any new cases that come before the Court.
