This program will offer expert guidance on how to survive and thrive as pro bono counsel, how to recognize and navigate the ethics issues that may arise, how to communicate effectively and deal with some common obstacles, how to manage a limited-scope representation so that both you and your pro bono client are benefiting to the maximum extent from the representation. The presentation will also offer expert advice on recognizing and coping with the stress associated with practicing law. Panelists will discuss aspects of lawyer well-being, the signs and symptoms of unhealthy ways to deal with stress, and the ways in which these can sabotage a lawyer’s practice, jeopardize his or her health, and create discipline problems.
