The legal aid community has made great strides in incorporating language access strategies into websites and online tools, but a recent evaluation of the statewide website network found that there is still work to do in ensuring meaningful and equitable access to online resources for LEP communities. What is the role, if any, of machine translation in a translation workflow? What are some of the challenges in creating and maintaining multilingual website content, and strategies programs have used to overcome these? What are we learning about how LEP individuals currently find and use online resources in translation and how can we make our efforts sustainable?

Panelists:

  • Kristi Cruz, Northwest Justice Project
  • Joann Lee, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles
  • Maria Mindlin, Transcend
  • Dennis Rios, Illinois Legal Aid Online
  • Sart Rowe, LSNTAP
  • Angela Tripp, Michigan Legal Help Program
