Since 2004 we have assisted over 156,000 callers with free, confidential information on immigration issues ranging from family petitions and residency to citizenship and provided them with directed referrals to legal service providers. Given the current anti-immigrant rhetoric and political climate we expect the phones to be particularly busy this year. We need your help more than ever!

Call-In Training June 1, 2017:
We will hold a full day of training prior to the call-in on June 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Immigration policy is rapidly changing and the need for up-to-date accurate information is critical. At the training, experienced attorneys will cover various areas of immigration law and current events that are important to our callers. We will also review important call-in policies and procedures necessary to navigate the phone and online referral system.

We strongly encourage first-time volunteers to attend the training in person. However, the training will also be live streamed and available for viewing on YouTube the week after. If you plan on attending the training in person or live streaming it, please register using the Training and Call-in Registration form. Be sure to sign up early!

Call-In Week June 19-23, 2017:
The call-in will be hosted at a new location and time - from June 19 to June 23, 2017 at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan. Phone lines open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. We have three volunteer time slots for you to select from. Remember, arrive 30 minutes prior to your shift for an orientation. Please fill out the Call-in Registration form, and sign up only for the slots that you are confident you will attend.

Benefits of Volunteering:
Besides the satisfaction of providing quality information and referrals to the callers, CUNY and the Daily News will also publish a photo and bio of each volunteer who wants to submit one. You will receive a link to submit your bio after you register using the Training and Call-in Registration form. The final deadline to submit your bio and photo is June 1st - so do not delay!
