Event Description: To address food insecurity and realize the ultimate goal of Hunger Free Communities, we need a multi-sector, interdisciplinary approach. This session will bring together stakeholders from government, health care, faith-based, and education sectors to discuss policy and practice solutions to food insecurity.

Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal of District 67 will appear via Zoom to discuss her work advocating for federal and state policies to reduce child hunger and poverty.

A Networking Session, with Appetizer Buffet and Bar, will immediately follow the presentation at 6:45 p.m.

This event is co-sponsored by the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra as well as the School of Health Professions and Human Services Public Health Graduate Program.

Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the Upper West Side and parts of Hell’s Kitchen. She is a lifelong resident of the Upper West Side and serves as Chair of the Assembly Housing Committee. She is a member of the Assembly Committees on Agriculture, Codes, and Health.

Since taking office in 2006, Assemblymember Rosenthal has passed more than 150 laws that have helped to improve the lives of all New York State residents. In previous sessions, Rosenthal has passed laws including the Child Victims Act and Adult Survivors Act to provide survivors of sexual abuse an opportunity to bring previously time-barred cases, legislation protecting victims of domestic violence, furthering reproductive rights and menstrual equity, advancing consumer protection, environmental protection and animal welfare.

She is the sponsor of the Hunger Free Campus Act to provide funding to colleges and universities statewide to bolster hunger prevention efforts and expand access to on-campus food pantries.
