  • Nonprofit/Community Development

On 13 September 2016, the TrustLaw team and social innovation experts will run a full-day, CLE-accredited legal training course on social enterprise and impact investing in San Francisco.

Building upon successful courses in New York and London, this course will explore key legal issues and trends in the burgeoning social innovation space and provide lawyers and other professionals with the skills they need to advise the different stakeholders in the sector. It is the first of its kind to combine hands-on legal training with practical case studies on social enterprise and impact investing and excellent networking opportunities with leading speakers and practitioners in the sector.

Through a mixture of lectures, panel discussions and interactive workshops, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of critical legal matters facing the sector, including:

  • A market overview of the social enterprise and social finance space in the US and beyond.
  • How to structure social enterprises and impact investment funds.
  • In depth understanding of social finance models, including new developments in crowdfunding.
  • Key legal and commercial challenges faced by new social businesses.

The training will run from 9am - 6pm, with a cocktail reception to follow from 6-8pm.

Cost:  $400 (breakfast, lunch, and cocktail reception included in this price).  Discounts are available for NGO's and social enterprises are entitled to a reduced rate.

The cost of the course goes to support the work of the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono service, TrustLaw, which connects the world’s leading legal teams to provide free legal assistance to NGOs and social enterprises working for social and environmental change.
