This training will provide an overview of the New York State Unemployment Insurance program, including New York eligibility criteria, informal and formal advocacy approaches, an introduction to New York State unemployment insurance law—including new NYS UI Law under the Governor's 2013 ""UI Reform" legislation. The training will emphasize topics of special importance to low-wage workers, including eligibility for individuals with limited work histories, off-the -books employment, job training opportunities and work limitations stemming from family obligations and /or disability or health restrictions. The training will include a mock UI hearing in the afternoon.
