The Basics of Orton-Gillingham and Securing Reading Services

This training is designed to provide a brief overview of the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy and to address related topics such as the DSM-5 changes to the term "dyslexia," the assessment profile of a student with reading disabilities, a summary of the various "OG-based" reading programs frequently offered, and the available certification/qualification levels for instructors of these programs. The presentation will also cover strategies for supporting specific reading program claims in impartial hearings, and will offer a brief review of case law.
