Litigating Order of Protection Cases

  • Family/DV

Please note that this training is open only to attorneys from major law firms.

Attorneys will be trained to represent inMotion-referred clients in order of protection matters in Family Court. Procedural and substantive aspects will be discussed in detail, as well as tips on how to represent and advise victims of domestic violence. Training manuals and sample documents will be provided.

An order of protection case will be assigned at the training or shortly thereafter. Attorneys can work on the case individually or as part of a team of two or more attorneys. Often, clients with order of protection matters are also seeking child custody or visitation. We encourage attorneys to attend this training and the custody/visitation training if handling a case with both issues.

The assigned pro bono case will require at least one court appearance. Attorneys are expected to commit to taking a case pro bono either individually or as part of a team of two or more attorneys.
