VLA Legal and Business Bootcamp for Arts Professionals™ is a comprehensive program about the legal and business issues that affect individual artists and individuals within organizations and cultural institutions. Intellectual property, contracts, and entity formation (LLCs, corporations, nonprofit tax-exempt corporations) are the three main areas covered. This program is for professionals within arts organizations, individual visual and performing artists, and art students at all stages of profesional development. Lawyers and other professionals who represent arts professionals will also benefit from the course. Launched in 2005 with over forty-five co-sponsors, this project is supported, in part, with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
