The second panel of Washington Council of Lawyers six-part Summer Forum will look at the varied and wide-ranging pro bono opportunities for lawyers who want to assist individuals at or below the federal poverty line. The areas of law the legal issues touch upon - landlord-tenant, consumer, and family - have the highest rate of pro se litigants but also produce some of the most life-changing outcomes for the parties involved. Representation is vital in these areas, and the need is overwhelming. Well discuss ways pro bono lawyers can literally save lives. The Poverty Law panel takes place on Tuesday, July 14 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm ET. A Zoom link will be sent to all registrants the day before the panel.

Our expert panel includes:

Tracy Goodman, Healthy Together Director at Childrens Law Center
Ted Howard, Partner at Wiley LLP
Keeshea Turner Roberts, Adjunct Professor Supervising Attorney of the Fair Housing Clinic at Howard University School of Law
Brad Voegeli, Director of Private Attorney Involvement for Neighborhood Legal Services Program
Debbie Cuevas Hill, Legal Counsel for the Elderly and Washington Council of Lawyers Board member will moderate this panel.

The Summer Forum is open to Washington Council of Lawyers members, participants in summer associate and summer intern programs, lawyers in law firms, government and public-interest organizations, and others interested in learning more about incorporating public-interest law into their practice.

One registration gives you access to all six sessions (keynote and five breakout panels). The recordings for all six sessions will be available to registrants later in the summer. You may register at any time before July 23 and receive access to all Summer Forum sessions.
