Capital University Law School will be launching a new pilot pro bono program to coincide with the National Pro Bono Week celebration. Created by Professor Peggy Cordray, the Capital Law School Foreclosure Mediation Preparation Project was developed in response to the record number of foreclosures filed in the state of Ohio this year and the need to better inform homeowners about how to prepare for foreclosure mediation. Through this innovative new program, students will counsel homeowners by phone about what mediation is, what they can expect when they go to mediation, and how to prepare for mediation. Capital received an overwhelming response from students willing to staff the project. More than 90 students are expected to donate pro bono hours as the program develops over the current school year.
