New York County Surrogate’s Court Help Center staff will give a presentation on the nuts and bolts of a small estate proceeding. When a person dies leaving behind less than $30,000, their estate is considered small and a small estate proceeding may be started. Attendees will learn how to ask the court to divide the property left behind so it may be given to people who have a right to receive it under the law.
