The Special Education Process can be daunting and intimidating. This class attempts to break it down into manageable chunks. This course provides a basic understanding of special education rights and services available in California and reviews basic advocacy strategies to help students and parents get the support and assistance they need. This class also teaches attendees how to make appropriate requests for special education assistance, IEP assessments and Due Process hearings.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA)
Reasonable Accommodations
IEP process
Timelines for requesting IEPs and Assessments
Rights under the IDEA and due process rights
