Please join us for a community conversation about the relationship between health and poverty, and what we can do as a community to affect change. Dr. Rishi Manchanda, an "upstreamist" physician and public health innovator, will be the keynote speaker. He focuses on improving primary care, the social and environmental conditions that make people sick, and health and human rights.
Manchanda is founder and president of HealthBegins, a social enterprise that seeks to transform health care. He serves as the medical director of a clinic for homeless veterans in Los Angeles. Manchanda is also the founder of RxDemocracy, a nonpartisan health care coalition that supports civic engagement and that has registered 30,000 voters in clinics nationwide. He is the author of "The Upstream Doctors."
Last year, Manchanda was chosen by The Atlantic magazine as one of 20 leading health care innovators in the U.S.
