  • Pro Bono Program/Legal Services Organization

Learn how to build a nonprofit board of directors and conduct effective board meetings.

Presented in collaboration with Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta.

We all know that nonprofits are run by a board of directors that should have regular meetings, but many nonprofit executive directors, CEOs, and board members struggle with the following questions: Who should be on our board? What is the right size for our board? How should we prepare for board meetings? What should happen at those meetings? How can we make our meetings more effective?

During this presentation, our speaker will address the following:

Board constitution: who and how many;
How to prepare for board meetings;
How to run board meetings including addressing sunshine laws;
Documents associated with such meetings;
How to keep board meetings focused and on track, and
Key follow-up steps after a board meeting.

Presenter: Reggie O'Shields, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta
