On October 25, 2011, volunteer attorneys will be recognized and thanked at a celebration to be held in conjunction with the National Pro Bono Celebration sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA). The Celebration is a coordinated national effort to meet the ever-growing needs of this country's most vulnerable citizens by encouraging and supporting pro bono legal services, and by showcasing the great difference that pro bono lawyers make to the nation, its system of justice, its communities and, most of all, to the clients they serve.
The local Celebration will be hosted by the Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor Foundation, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the 1st Judicial District Pro Bono Committee, the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, and the presiding Judges of the Hamilton County Courts and US District Court, Southern District of Ohio. It will take place at the Taft Conference Center from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
A short program will begin at 6:00; American Bar Association President Bill Robinson, will be the keynote speaker.
In addition to recognizing Volunteer Lawyers Project attorneys, the Host Committee will honor Gerry Greene, Legal Aid Society volunteer attorney, by presenting him with the Equal Justice Leadership Award.
