This seminar is aimed at providing an opportunity for lawyers to develop and enhance their skills in using practical legal issues in teaching advocacy, ethics and professionalism to law students. It will also provide new lawyers with a foundation for bridging the gap from law school to law practice. This is a seminar about professionalism in the practice of law, and how attorneys can develop and maintain it in the face of pressures confronting today's practitioners. This seminar will also serve as a way to prepare new lawyers for the transition from law school to law practice.
As a result of this seminar, you will be able to:
- Address some of the situations that may face new lawyers;
- Identify professionalism issues that arise in the context of the lawyer's relationships with clients, judges, opposing counsel, co-counsel, the public, court staff, and support staff; and
- Assist law students in understanding the importance of ethics and professionalism in advocacy.
