Presentation/discussion with regional partners on policy initiative:
Jason Reece from the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University will highlight preliminary findings from an study that explores the future of fair credit and fair housing in light of the subprime lending and foreclosure crisis. The research initiative places the foreclosure crisis in context as part of a continuum of discriminatory and unsustainable credit, banking, and consumer protection practices. It focuses on areas of emerging concern and potential reforms. This workshop will be a structured dialogue in which attendees will discuss how credit and banking practices can be changed to provide fair and sustainable credit to marginalized communities.

Seattle-King County opportunity mapping
Join us for a presentation on the Seattle-King County "Opportunity Mapping" project and learn how opportunity maps can be used to accomplish positive change in your community. From locating goods and services to ensuring that affordable housing is near quality jobs and schools, maps can help shape the dialogue around creating a healthy, inclusive region. Jason Reece from the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University will facilitate a discussion around the Seattle-King County opportunity mapping project and how the project can help meet community goals. The day will conclude with a one-hour training on legal strategies for affirmatively furthering fair housing.
