Topics:
  • Working with Interpreters

If you have been a volunteer interpreter or are interested in becoming one for clients seeking asylum and their pro bono attorneys, please join us for a discussion of the critical role of interpreters in the asylum process. This roundtable will delve into fundamental topics related to interpretation, such as: the role of the interpreter on the team; best practices for interpreters; how to recognize and address vicarious trauma; and the impact of trauma and culture as it relates to the interpreter. The discussion will be facilitated by two experienced Lawyers' Committee volunteer interpreters who will share their tips for how to best carry out this essential responsibility for the benefit of the client and the team as a whole. Please join us with any questions, thoughts, or simply to discover how you can assist somebody to stay safely in the United States!

Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Silvia Contreras at scontreras@lccr.com.
