Nassau County Bar Association

The Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) is the leading resource for legal information and education for the more than 1.3 million people living in Nassau County. NCBA members have a long tradition of stepping forward to assist children, seniors, the abused and neglected, students, homeowners, parents and teens, and those in need.

Since 2009, NCBA volunteer attorneys have provided one-on-one consultations at free clinics to any Nassau County homeowner who is facing or anticipating mortgage foreclosure. Last year, clinics for the victims of Superstorm Sandy were added, to help with foreclosure as well as insurance and FEMA claims, landlord/tenant issues, debt deferral, bankruptcy, and consumer protection issues. Clinics are held twice a month on Mondays, 3-6 p.m. at NCBA's headquarters in Mineola. In addition, some clinics are held off site in severely affected areas.

Volunteers also represent homeowners pro bono at court-mandated conferences with mortgage holders, which are held every week in Supreme Court Mondays through Wednesdays in the mornings at 9 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and in the afternoons at 2 p.m.
