Attorney Position

Central Virginia Legal Aid Society is seeking a Lawyer for our Petersburg office. The legal work includes the provision of general civil legal assistance in the areas of housing, consumer, family, and employment law for low-income people in the greater Petersburg area.

Central Virginia Legal Aid Society is a nationally recognized, non-profit program providing free civil legal assistance from three offices in central Virginia.  We work both to eliminate the immediate symptoms and to address the underlying effects of poverty for our clients.  Our staff attorneys are responsible for their own case-load from the investigation stage through final resolution.

Qualifications include:
• Eligibility for membership in the Virginia bar;
• A demonstrated commitment to social justice; 
• Outstanding communication and research skills; and
• An ability to balance a variety of responsibilities with a healthy sense of humor.
