This past March, New York launched their LawHelp3 site. Coinciding with their launch, LawHelp/NY was honored with the 2013 Angelo T. Cometa award to recognize their extraordinary commitment toward advancing the goals of the New York State Bar's Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). Congratulations to the team on their recognition and site launch!
Language Access Initiative
In 2012, through LawHelp's Language Access Initiative, 93 pieces of content were translated into a total of 25 languages for 15 statewide websites. In the first quarter of 2013, 5 partners submitted 25 pieces of content for translation into 7 languages. We are currently accepting translation requests for quarter two. This opportunity will end on June 21st. All services are free for the partners, and provided by an in kind grant Pro Bono Net brokered through Linguistic Systems, Inc. Please contact Xander Karsten at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Additionally, we are excited to announce the addition of 10 plain language guides to the national homepage, which are offered in both Spanish and English, and cover common legal issues and questions. You may also find version to add to add or adapt for your LawHelp3 site in the SWEB library here.
