Welcome to the March 2007 SWEB site update!

We've added a new folder to the SWEB library called Emerging Web Technologies. This folder will be a clearinghouse for online resources related to RSS, wikis, online communities and other tools that can be used in support of your organization's goals and your statewide website.

Note: To utilize the links in this post, you must be logged in to the SWEB site. If you are not already a member of SWEB, you can join here.

Our first Emerging Web Technology resource is from Kevin Wenzel, the Web Content Coordinator for the Virginia Poverty Law Center. Kevin created a map of Virginia's legal aid program offices using MapBuilder and then integrated it into the Virginia Poverty Law Center's website.

Other new library resources include:

Using Participatory Media Tools in Nonprofit Campaigns
An article by Beth Kanter on how nonprofits can use participatory media tools such as tagging, video, and social media in their marketing campaigns.

RSS Nuts and Bolts
A presentation given in November 2006 as part of Pro Bono Net's Tuesday Training Series. Topics covered included an overview of the RSS feeds available for the news and calendar tools on the template, how to integrate these feeds into various applications such as feed aggregators and web browsers, and how to integrate a RSS feed into your website.

RSS Explained
A mini-site on how RSS feeds work and the many ways they can be used to support the missions of non-profit organizations. It also includes many other useful external links on effective utilization of RSS feeds.

Sources of Poverty Law-Related RSS Content
A list of RSS feeds for poverty law news and updates. Links include court and legislative updates on the state and federal levels as well as general organization news from a variety of sources.
