Creating an Organization

Much like Resources, Organizations can have as much, or as little, information as you have available. This guide will describe in the broadest brush strokes the tabs you will need to complete. Click here for a longer screencast to the Organization's Management Tool. For the complete Admin Training Guide, click here.

Once you've decided what Organization's Profile you want to upload or create, log in as an admin- this will take you to the admin dashboard.

You can create a resource either by selecting "New Organization" under the "Organization" tab, or click the link in the upper right hand corner of the admin organization page.

General
The General Tab houses the bulk of the information about your organization. The first field asks for the language of entry (it is not the language(s) spoken by the agency, but the language of what you are actually uploading).

Under the General Tab you will input the organizations name, a description of the agency, a summary of their services and their general contact information for site users. You can also provide information on the agencies capacity to provide interpreters, LSC status, whether they provide legal representation, as well as their buildings accessibility and their provision of services to the hearing impaired.

There is space to record your agency contact's information, as well as agency's director's information (this is not accessible to users of the site, and is only for your information).

Like the Resources Manager, there is also a field for the Last Reviewed Date.

There is also a settings section, allowing you to suggest the organization as a resource author, to display it in the "Find Legal Help" directory, and/or to display in the "Understand your Legal Issues" channel. These allow you to customize where the organization is displayed on your site, or to maintain the information completely hidden from users. Why would I want to do this?

Please remember, you only have to fill in the Name of the Organization, the Language you are uploading the organization in, as well as the address of the organization. You should fill in as much other information as possible, but don't panic if you do not have certain information- you probably won't have all the information for all your organizations.

Be sure to click Save before you go onto the next tab.

Profile

Simply fill out the fields so that users will know what contact information they should use if they are in an emergency situation, what the income requirements and eligibility restrictions are, and the percentage of poverty level the organization serves. Since many users will not know if they fall within the percentage of poverty level, it is generally advisable that you include income requirements as well (or in place of) the percentage. What about Sub-Profiles?

Be sure to click Save before you go onto the next tab.

Service Types
The service types tab allows you to indicate what services each organization provides, and to give a description of the service type.
Select the services the agency provides, and click Save before you go onto the next tab.

Be sure to click Save before you go onto the next tab.

Intake Methods
This is where you will record how each organization does their intakes. There are six different options:

To select an intake type, highlight the type you want, and press "Add Intake." You can select as many intake types as are appropriate, input as much information as you have available, and save. To delete an intake type, simply press the "X" button on the upper right hand side of the intake module.

Be sure to click Save before you go onto the next tab.

The other tabs, Topics, Coverage, Categories and Tags, will allow users to find the profile you just created. For more information on how to complete these fields, click here.

Once you have completed all the relevant tabs, click "DONE" to publish your organization.

And you're finished!
