Do analytics work on the mobile site?

Yes, we will set up an account on Google Analytics and assist you in utilizing this tool.

Can we make content available in languages other than English?

While we currently can only support English language mobile sites, through a TIG grant partnership with Legal Assistance of Western New York and LawHelpNY we are currently creating an Spanish Language version of the mobile platform. More information will be forthcoming.

I've heard about a mobile responsive site. Is this different from the LawHelp mobile site?

A fully mobile responsive site is one where the site detects when it is accessed by a mobile device (typically a tablet or a mobile phone), and changes the layout of the site so a mobile user can view it more easily on their device.

The mobile site we provide is responsive in the sense that it can detect when a mobile user is viewing it, and will open your mobile site rather than your full version site on a smartphone. Tablet computers will open your full site without a need to change the layout.

Rather than assuming viewers should see all of your site's content we allow you to customize the content that is available to your viewers. Often the content on LawHelp sites contain long pdf booklets or links to sites that are not optimized for mobile. If you used a fully mobile responsive site, pdfs would not be changed, and would still be difficult to view on a mobile device. It also would not impact other sites you link to. Please look through Content Considerations for more information on these issues.

Is this a new site? Will I have to maintain two separate sites?

No. Think of the mobile interface as simply another access point that looks different, with different options. It can have as many or as few resources and organization profiles as you set, but if you change the content module in your full site, it will automatically change the content on your mobile site, unless you set it differently.

How can I view my mobile site on a desktop?

There are a couple of ways to check out your mobile site on a desktop.  You can go to m.yourURL.org and see your mobile site.  You can also use cell phone simulators (such as http://iphone5csimulator.com/) to see what your site will look like on a mobile device.

Nothing will replace actually testing the site on an actual mobile device, however, and you can view your site on your phone anytime after the mobile site is set up by pointing your browser to m.yourURL.org.
