The Law Foundation, a non-profit organization located in San Jose, California, provides free legal services to Silicon Valley residents in need. Our services are available through five programs: Fair Housing Law Project, Health Legal Services, Legal Advocates for Children & Youth, Mental Health Advocacy Project, and Public Interest Law Firm. The mission of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley is to secure justice and protect human rights by providing legal advocacy, counseling, and access to the legal system for those who would otherwise be underrepresented. The Law of Silicon Valley advances the rights of under-represented individuals and families in our diverse community through legal services, strategic advocacy, and educational outreach.

The Law Foundation offers a wide variety of pro bono opportunities, including:

Co-counseling Impact Litigation Cases
The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley has a long history of partnering with law firms to co-counsel cases with our litigation teams at Fair Housing Law Project (FHLP) and Public Interest Law Firm (PILF). FHLP has opportunities for firms to co-counsel cases representing victims of housing discrimination and illegal mortgage lending practices. PILF seeks co-counsel in impact litigation matters and has a wide-ranging litigation and advocacy docket in the areas of civil rights; fair, habitable, and affordable housing; consumer protection; disability access; education and other youth rights; and rights of individuals in institutions.

Guardianship Representation Project
The Guardianship Project provides representation to children and families in guardianship matters. When children in our community are not able to live with a parent because of death, incarceration, abuse or neglect, pro bono attorneys can help a child achieve safety and stability by representing the youth or prospective guardian in a guardianship proceeding.

School Discipline Legal Assistance Project
More and more schools are depriving youth of the key to children's future success-an appropriate education-by unfairly subjecting them to zero tolerance policies and the harsh punishment of expulsion. Pro bono attorneys can positively influence a child's life by ensuring his or her right to a public education is adequately protected.

Volunteer Eviction Assistance Collaborative
Many residents in Santa Clara County face serious housing problems, including the threat of losing their homes. The Law Foundation, in collaboration with several other Santa Clara County legal services organizations, hosts a weekly Friday morning clinic where pro bono volunteers analyze individual housing cases and provide clients with advice and assistance in drafting answers to eviction complaints. The clinic takes place every Friday from 9am to 1pm at the Law Foundation office in downtown San Jose.

Nonprofit Legal Assistance Project
Our community would not be as strong as it is without the critical work of nonprofit organizations that serve low-income individuals in Santa Clara County. These organizations often require legal support to enable them to provide fundamental services to underserved populations. The Law Foundation's Nonprofit Legal Assistance Project connects these nonprofit organizations with pro bono counsel to assist them with their legal needs.
