Bay Area Pro Bono Programs Guide
Legal Services for Prisoners with Children (LSPC) *
Organization Description:
LSPC advocates for the human rights and empowerment of incarcerated parents, children, family members and people at risk for incarceration. We respond to requests for information, trainings, technical assistance, litigation and community activism. Our focus is on women prisoners and their families, and we emphasize that issues of race are central to any discussion of incarceration.
LSPC's California Habeas Project recruits, trains and supports volunteer attorneys to represent incarcerated domestic violence survivors seeking post-conviction justice. Our All of Us or None project offers lawyers the opportunity to assist formerly incarcerated people in dismissing certain convictions from their criminal records so that they can find gainful employment. LSPC also organizes legal trainings for state legal services agencies, law firms and individual advocates regarding medical, human rights, family and prison law.
