VLSP Volunteer Role:
Supervisor for Psychologist/MRCC/LCSW licensure
Background: Opportunities for supervision are hard to find. The staff at can provide supervision to no more than three LCSW/MFT candidates at one time. Yet, acquiring supervised hours is an attractive incentive for many people to volunteer to our worthwhile projects.
Volunteering as a supervisor means using your skills and experience to help a colleague not only progress towards licensure, but also help a low-income person.
Qualifications:
¨ Valid license for at least two years as an LCSW, or psychologist, marriage and family therapist, or physician certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology..
¨ Experience as a supervisor
¨ Willingness to complete all paperwork required by the licensing board.
Responsibilities:
¨ Attend a supervisor?s orientation/interview
¨ Provide one hour of supervision for every 10 hours of face to face contact that the volunteer makes with a client;
¨ Maintain a minimum of 15 contact hours in supervision training
¨ Work under guidance of VLSP and HAP social services staff
Training: Supervisors must have a minimum of 15 contact hours in supervision training obtained from a state agency or approved continuing education provider.
Time/Place: Supervisors should meet with candidates regularly. Meeting can take place at our HAP or California Street locations or at your office.
