The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program

The Veterans Consortium (TVC) believes that our veterans in need—our nation’s defenders—deserve the care, benefits, and compensation they were promised, and the best legal services, free of charge, to meet their challenges.  For more than 25 years, TVC’s National Volunteer Corps of pro bono attorneys and paralegals have provided representation in nearly 6,000 court cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court (with a win streak of two unanimous Supreme Court decisions).

Founded in 1992, TVC has recruited, trained, mentored, and supported almost 6,000 volunteer attorneys who have a national lifetime success rate of 83% in federal courts.  TVC recruits and trains volunteer attorneys and paralegals, carefully screens cases for issues of merit, and places cases with attorneys for pro bono advice and representation.  TVC volunteers also provide support to discharge upgrade appeals for cases involving mental health issues related to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST).

TVC has handled more than 67,000 requests for legal assistance nationally.  Through its TVC National Volunteer Corps, TVC has provided over $142 million in pro bono legal services, and more than twice that when the calculated lifetime value of benefits secured for veterans and their families are included.
