Georgia Justice Project

At Georgia Justice Project we believe: a person is more than their criminal history; second chances help individuals, families, and communities; everyone deserves a fair day in court, mass incarceration destroys communities of color, and a better criminal justice system is possible. GJP works to reduce the collateral consequences of a criminal record, advocates for better laws and policies to reduce barriers to reentry, and provides diligent criminal defense with ongoing social services. Volunteers are a critical part of the work that we do, particularly for criminal records and reentry.

This work is so critical because approximately 4.3 million people have a Georgia criminal history. A significant number of Georgians experience barriers to employment, housing, and other opportunities as a result of their criminal record. In an attempt to meet this overwhelming need for legal representation for people with a criminal history, GJP has many pro bono opportunities.
