  • Training / Supervision Comments: The VLP provides periodic training seminars at the Court on substantive legal topics as well as the practical aspects of representing indigent clients. Volunteer attorneys in attendance receive Continuing Legal Education credit from The Florida Bar upon request, participating lawyers have access to many resources such as sample pleadings and forms, supplementary malpractice insurance, staff attorney at FJI, and a mentor program

  • CLE pro bono comments: Recognition is given during CLE programs at the Court. Representation of a client from the Project qualifies for pro bono reporting to The Florida Bar even if the volunteer attorney later receives a court awarded fee. Attorneys wishing to buy out of The Florida Bar's pro bono expectation and decline participation in the Project may send an annual check for at least $350 along with the $25 annual dues to the Volunteer Lawyers' Project.

  • Other Case Load Requirements: Many cases are eligible for the award of attorneys’ fees if the plaintiff prevails. Any fees and costs recovered are divided between the attorney and the VLP as follows.
