Norman lawyer to receive Oklahoma Bar Association honor

Jan Grant-Johnson, of Norman, is one of five women lawyers and judges who was presented with A Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award.

Jan Grant-Johnson, of Norman, was presented with a Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award during a reception Oct. 3 at the University of Tulsa College of Law.

The Oklahoma Bar Association Women in Law Committee presents the awards annually to women who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession and who have led the way for other women.  

Grant-Johnson has been an active member of the OBA, Cleveland County Bar Association and community for many years.  

For the past 10 years, she has volunteered with Legal Aid, handling numerous pro bono cases. She has also volunteered her time with efforts to provide no-cost legal assistance to military members and disaster survivors.

She has served on the OBA Professional Responsibility Tribunal and as a member of various committees. She is a member of the OBA Family Law Section and is a frequent speaker on family law issues.

She is a certified mediator and serves as a court-appointed and private-selection guardian ad litem expert and parenting coordinator.


The 17,500-member Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity, competence, public service and high standards of conduct among Oklahoma’s legal community.
