Cindy Sooter Goble Appointed Interim Managing Attorney for Legal Aid's Oklahoma City Law Office

Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc. announces the appointment of Cindy Sooter Goble as the Interim Managing Attorney for the Oklahoma City Law Office.  Cindy has been the Oklahoma City Pro Bono Coordinator since early 2004 and was named Statewide Pro Bono Coordinator in 2008.  She received a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Oklahoma, Price Business College in 1990, where she was selected for membership into Beta Gamma Sigma, an honor society for business schools and of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Goble received her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law in 1993.

Ms. Goble had 11 years of legal experience representing clients in divorce, juvenile and criminal defense matters prior to joining Legal Aid in 2004.  She served as appointed counsel for criminal defendants through the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System for 2 years. Cindy is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and has been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She is also a member of the Oklahoma and Canadian County Bar Associations and is an Oklahoma Bar Foundation Fellow. She currently serves on the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, Disaster Response and Relief Committee and Military Assistance Committee. She also serves on the Oklahoma County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee and Legal Aid Committee and the Canadian County Bar Association’s Community Outreach Committee. She is a member of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Domestic Violence Task Force and is an alternate representative for the Oklahoma Bar Association on the Child Death Review Board.

Ms. Goble will receive the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service at the 2012 Annual Meeting in November.  Cindy has a son, Scott Cox, living in Ft. Worth, Texas and her daughter Jennifer Cox and granddaughter Cassie live with her in Oklahoma City.  Cindy has previously served as Interim Managing Attorney from 2007 to 2008 and is excited about the challenges and potential opportunities that this new position brings to help those members of the public who cannot afford an attorney.
