National Volunteer Week is recognized as a time to honor individuals who dedicate of their time and of themselves to take action and help in their communities.

The theme for National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, is "Celebrating People in Action." This special week allows individuals, families, nonprofits and government to celebrate every day people who, together, make extraordinary things happen through a single mission: service.

What better time to honor our own pro bono attorneys, law students, volunteers and Oklahoma Legal Aid staff who so graciously give of their time and service? This is not only a time to honor those who dedicate services for legal matters, but for members of our staff who also volunteer for other projects such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma and United Way, to name a few.

The Oklahoma City Legal Aid Law Office will be holding a dessert reception to honor these volunteers on Tuesday, April 21, 1:30 p.m. Gary Taylor, Executive Director of Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, will be speaking to the group as the Tulsa Legal Aid Law Office joins in via live feed at 2 p.m.

Our volunteers join us in making equal access to justice for all Oklahomans a reality each day. We thank you so much for your time and partnership in this work.
