Three Attorneys Honored for Services to Children

OKLAHOMA CITY - Three Oklahoma attorneys were honored recently at the annual dinner of Oklahoma Lawyers for Children at the Oklahoma History Center.

The event also serves as the organization's largest fundraiser.Eric Eissenstat, Bill McKinney and Linda Kaye received awards for their service on behalf of children.
Eissenstat, incoming chairman of the organization, received the Mona Lambird Service to Children Award.
Lambird was one of the first volunteers and a board member of Oklahoma Lawyers for Children. The award is presented each year to an attorney for exemplary representation of children.
Eissenstat received the award for his service in a case seeking termination of parental rights based on allegations of severe child abuse.
Since 2006, Eissenstat has invested more than 300 pro bono hours on the case.
McKinney, who has spent more than 28 years as an Oklahoma County assistant district attorney, received the Buddy Faye Foster Award. He was honored for spending the majority of his prosecutorial career representing thousands of deprived children.
Kaye received the Honorable Nan J. Patton Service to Children Award for volunteering many times each month since 2007 as a home-study volunteer for Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.
OLFC is a nonprofit organization that organizes and uses the effort of both lawyer and non-lawyer volunteers to serve deprived children in Oklahoma County.
Since 1997, volunteer attorneys have represented more than 19,000 children in legal proceedings.
