Hurricane Sandy brought with it flood water, wind damage and blackouts robbing many nonprofits of their ability to use space that they own or rent. As organizations assess repairs that must be made and plan to manage cash flow it is necessary to determine who has responsibility for making repairs and how to calculate rent owed during this time period. This webinar will address the legal concerns faced by parties to a standard form commercial lease when their leased premises may have been damaged or destroyed and the tenant and landlord have to wrestle with key issues such as responsibility for repairs, tenant displacement, rights to offset rent or to terminate the lease. This webinar is for nonprofit managers, asset management staff and board members.
