All experienced practitioners have had cases that went off the rails at some point --unwarranted filing rejections, the government loses a file or sends it to the wrong place, a case hits processing purgatory, or the government decision is wrong on the law or the facts. Usually, these hiccups occur when it is imperative to have had a decision yesterday. In this seminar, experienced practitioners discuss how to effectively and efficiently get around roadblocks when your case hits a procedural wall.
Topics include:

  • Who to Call and How to Contact USCIS to Get Your Voice Heard Quickly
  • Facilitating Visa Issuance and Overcoming Visa Denials at U.S. Consulates
  • When to Bring in the "Big Guns" - Use of AILA Liaisons and Congressional Liaisons
  • When to Use the Ombudsman and File a DHS-7001
  • When to Appeal and When to Re-file?
  • When Is it Time to Bite the Bullet and Sue?

Faculty:
Suzanne B. Seltzer (dl), AILA USCIS Service Centers Operations Committee Chair, New York, NY
