Adoption 101: Handling Your First Pro Bono Case

Topics:
  • Pro Bono

Over 200,000 children in New York City are being raised by grandparents and other
relatives because their biological parents are unable or unwilling to care for them. MFY's
Kinship Caregiver Law Project helps to stabilize families, promote children's security, and
prevent children from entering the foster care system. With assistance from members of
the private bar who serve as pro bono counsel, the Project helps kinship caregivers to adopt
children and support vulnerable families. Learn how you can help.

This free training will educate and prepare attorneys on how to handle private placement
adoption proceedings in Family Court. The training is geared for both transitional and non-transitional attorneys. No prior family law experience is required.
