The Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the City Bar Justice Center have organized a program to provide pro bono legal representation to individuals whose homes are threatened with mortgage foreclosure, and they need help. Participating lawyers will learn how to serve homeowners in several ways: defend against a mortgage foreclosure action, negotiate with the lender to modify or restructure the loan, file a bankruptcy proceeding, or, where the home cannot be saved, help secure an orderly transition with minimum damage to credit. Attendees are expected to represent at least one client pro bono from the City Bar Justice Center in exchange for the free CLE training.
